Code of Conduct for West Elementary School PTO
Introduction
The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to create a welcoming, respectful, and enjoyable environment for everyone attending school events and activities. This code applies to all students, parents, guardians, and family members participating in events and activities organized by the school, Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), or approved vendors.
Behavioral Guidelines
To ensure a positive experience for all, we kindly ask attendees to:
- Show respect and kindness to all students, staff, volunteers, and other attendees.
- Maintain a calm and cooperative demeanor, avoiding disruptive behaviors such as loud arguments or interruptions.
- Use language that is appropriate, inclusive, and considerate of others.
- Follow the event guidelines and any instructions provided by school staff, PTO members, or vendors.
- Refrain from bringing items that are not permitted at school events, such as weapons, alcohol, or illegal substances.
Supervision Requirement (No Drop-Off Policy)
- All students must be accompanied and actively supervised by a parent, guardian, or designated adult caregiver at all times during PTO events and activities.
- Drop-off is not permitted at any PTO-sponsored event. Students who arrive without an accompanying adult will not be admitted.
- The accompanying adult is responsible for the student’s supervision, behavior, and safety for the duration of the event.
Admission Policy
Admission to any event is a revocable license. Staff and event organizers reserve the right to refuse admission or eject any person whose conduct is deemed to be disorderly, disruptive, or in violation of any applicable laws, venue policies, or West Elementary's Code of Conduct, with or without warning.
Addressing Concerns
To ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees, the following steps will be taken if the guidelines are not followed:
- Vendors, PTO members, or designated event and activity organizers may address any concerns about behavior that does not align with this code.
- If an issue arises, the individual will be approached respectfully and given a gentle reminder of the guidelines, along with an opportunity to adjust their behavior.
- If the behavior continues or is deemed serious (e.g., harassment, threats, or physical altercations), the individual may be kindly asked to leave the event to ensure the well-being of others.
- In rare cases where safety is at risk, law enforcement may be contacted to assist.
Acknowledgment
By attending school events, students, parents, and guardians agree to uphold this Code of Conduct, including the requirement that all students be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. A copy of this code will be provided with event and activity signups, and adults may be asked to sign an acknowledgment form.
This Code of Conduct is designed to foster a positive and inclusive environment for all members of our school community. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
